Geoff Allison
Horses have been a part of Geoffrey Allison's life since he began riding at age six. His family's involvement with horses dates back to the 1800's and has continued through the years with family members playing a part in the creation of the Devon Horse Show and the Radnor Hunt.
Geoff Allison's involvement with horses has continued throughout his life including while attending business school in Wellesley, MA. After college, Allison relocated to manage an office in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was in Springfield, while becoming hopelessly lost while foxhunting, that Allison met Sally Vita, who shared his passion for horses and later became his wife.
Today, Geoff and Sally are still both active riders and are involved in numerous and diverse aspects of the horse industry. Their two children, Logan, 14, and Matt 12, share that equestrian interest, with Logan being a member of CHJA and a frequent competitor in the ring.
For over 35 years, Allison's family has owned hunter-jumpers. In addition, the Allison's own and will continued the tradition of the Shallowbrook Horse Show, an A-rated show that celebrated its 25th year in operation in 2003 and annually serves as a benefit to several local charities.
Geoff Allison's equestrian experience and interests span several disciplines including flat racing and polo. Geoff is also a past Joint Master of the Connecticut Valley Hunt Club.
As if the horses don't keep him busy enough, Allison and son, Matt, own high performance track cars and drive them competitively at Lime Rock in Connecticut and at the Loudon International Speedway in New Hampshire.
Another significant focus in Allison's life has been business. Having owned and managed several successful companies, Allison now serves as consultant to a select group of corporations. As a CHJA board member, Geoff Allison hopes to utilize this unique combination of business acumen and horse expertise for the benefit of the Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association.
