Year End Award Rules

Reminder Regarding Year End Awards!

Unless otherwise noted in the CHJA Rulebook, all Recognized Divisions are eligible for year -end high score awards for active members. However, in order for year-end high score awards to be made, the following minimum levels of participation must be met:

1.The division must be held at a minimum of four shows during the year with at least three eligible entries competing in each class at each show; and,

2. A horse or rider must compete at a minimum of four shows during the show year in a specified division, and when they compete, the division or individual class must be eligible to receive points (i.e., must have at least the minimum number of entries required for points), even if the horse and rider wins none of the points.

3. In order to accumulate points, horses must be registered with the CHJA and their owners must be members in good standing, and equitation riders must be members in good standing.

4. There will be two Award Tiers for Year-End awards, Tier 1 being a greater award, Tier 2 being a lesser award.

    a. Tier 1 Divisions must have at least six members in the equitation divisions or six horses/ponies in the hunter/jumper divisions that meet CHJA criteria for year end awards.

    b. Tier 2 Divisions have less than six members in the equitation divisions or six horses/ponies in the hunter/jumper divisions that meet CHJA criteria for year end awards.

5. In bestowing year-end awards, the CHJA reserves the right to combine performance divisions that are normally split during the show year in order to ensure a minimum of six year-end award recipients. For example, Amateur Owner Hunters (under/over 35) and Adult Hunters (over/under 35) could be combined if recipients were fewer than 6 in either of the uncombined divisions.
