In accordance with GR 1111.4: Canada & NY are contiguous states. For contiguous state points New York includes New Jersey.
Adult Amateur Hunter:
To be ridden by Amateurs who are no longer eligible to compete as Junior Exhibitors. Riders must be in possession of current USEF Amateur certification. Horse/rider combination is not eligible for any other USEF rated classes in which fence height exceeds 3' (exception USHJA National Hunter Derby). Riders showing in the Amateur Owner Hunter or Jumper sections may compete on one different owned horse in the Adult Amateur Hunter section. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, size of rider to mount, and suitability as an Adult Amateur Hunter. Height of fences 3', spreads not to exceed height of fence. Adult Amateur and Children's Hunter may be combined if there are less than three in either section. Ponies may be ridden by adults, suitability to count. Horses and ponies may be jogged at the horse show management's discretion.
Children's Hunter:
Open to Junior Exhibitors who are eligible for Intermediate Equitation as of December 1 of the current show year. Height of fences: 2' for small/medium ponies, 2'6" for large ponies, 3' for horses, spreads not to exceed fence height. The section may be split at the discretion of show management. Neither horse nor rider may cross enter into the Junior Hunter section. Riders cannot cross enter into any class where fences exceed 3'3" except Equitation, Children's Jumpers and the USHJA National Hunter Derby. Any rider competing in the USEF rated Pony Hunter section may only show one pony in the Children's Hunter Pony section at that show. Ponies cannot cross enter into Regular or Green Pony sections at the same competition. Adult Amateur and Children's Hunter may be combined if there are less than three in either section. Horses and ponies may be jogged at the horse show management's discretion.
To be ridden by Exhibitors who have not reached their 18th birthday by December 1 of the current competition year. Fence heights to be set at 1.05 m to 1.15m (3'9"). Cash winnings do not influence this classification. Riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.15m (3'9") except the USEF Talent Search Class. Horses may show at 1.40m (4'7") or below with another rider. Sections may be divided by age of rider or by horse/pony and may also be combined with Adult Amateur if so stated in the prize list.
Adult Amateur Jumper: To be ridden by Exhibitors who are no longer eligible to compete as Junior Exhibitors. All exhibitors must be amateurs in accordance with GR1306 and must show USEF Amateur Certification Fence heights to be set at 1.05 m to 1.15m (3'9"). Cash winnings do not influence this classification. Riders may not compete in any other class at the same competition where fences exceed 1.15m (3'9") except the USEF Talent Search Class. Horses may show at 1.40m (4'7") or below with another rider. Sections may be divided by age of rider or by horse/pony and may also be combined with Children's Jumper if so stated in the prize list.
