2026 CHJA Horsemanship Challenge Practice Tests
There are two age appropriate tests, one for Ages 12 and Under, and one for Ages 13 and Over. Open to all active CHJA members (Junior and Adult Amateur) who would like to participate. This award will identify from among our many members, the competitor who not only rides well, but whose knowledge expands beyond their riding ability to include all things related to quality horse care.The written test is based on general knowledge of horse, tack and animal care. An individual may only win once.
Tests will be administered at 4:00 pm on Thursday. There will be no admittance after 4:30 pm. Those taking the test will not be able to leave the testing area before 4:30 pm. Cell phones are not allowed. Anyone entering the testing area with a cell phone will be asked to leave it with the test proctor.
The CHJA Horsemanship Challenge Perpetual Trophies will be presented to the individual in each age group with the highest score on the written test. The winners will be posted at the Secretary’s booth on Saturday August 15th.
The Awards Presentation will take place on Sunday August 16th immediately before the Children’s Medal Final. Award recipients must be present at the ingate in show clothes no later than 7:45. The 13 and Over group will be pinned first. You must attend the presentation to receive your awards and prizes.
The questions for the 12 and Under Test will be selected from the Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship.
