Velasquez
Owned By: Brittany Johnson

"He was known as an equitation superstar. From tight rollbacks to a flawless counter canter, he could easily double as a hunter. Owned and ridden by Brittany Johnson, all eyes turned to any ring that the team entered. From local shows to Big Eq Finals, Blitz and Brittany were unstoppable in equitation classes as well as hunters. After moving into the adult ranks, Blitz and Brittany placed at every final. When Brittany left for college, Blitz transformed into a teacher. He used his winning ways to give confidence to other riders. He helped one junior qualify for equitation finals and competed at Maclay Regionals. He showed another young rider just starting out in the equitation world how it was done while letting her make the mistakes she needed to learn. Blitz’s patience and compassion made him a favorite at IHSA shows with many riders of varied abilities. He always behaving like a champion regardless of what distance he was placed at! Sadly, Blitz passed away but is the  recipient of the “Brave Award” as he touched the lives of many young riders by giving them the confidence they needed to succeed in the show ring!"
