25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!
2006 CHJA Medal Finals

Dear CHJA Members,

This year marks the twenty fifth anniversary of the Connecticut Hunter & Jumper Association Medal Finals! The first CHJA Medal Final was held on September 10, 1983 at the FAVARH Horse Show in Farmington, CT. There were only three classes, the Adult, Pony and Junior Medal, and approximately 50 entrants. Last year there were 342 entrants in seven classes. Our growth has been phenomenal and so have our growing pains! We thought this anniversary celebration would be the perfect time to introduce some exciting new changes!

We have had many requests to find a way to shorten the long hot days! So, in an effort to make the days a little more bearable and to build a "safety net" in case of inclement weather, we are proud to present a new timetable. The biggest change is the addition of another day (Thursday) and the elimination of the judged special hunters on Saturday morning. Instead, we will run an unjudged warm up in the CHJA ring on Thursday afternoon. Every horse rider combination who pre-enters the warm-up, will receive one ticket for one warm-up trip. The single warm-up trip may be taken by the rider or their trainer, but not both. Like the medal classes, you must pre-enter for the warm-up. There will be no warm-up post entries.

We are also very excited about holding The Hunter Classics on Friday afternoon! As Fairfield runs all of their adult classes in the CHJA ring on Friday, working adults who can't make it on Thursday will have the opportunity to enter these classes in order to get into the ring before the Adult Hunter Classic or Adult Medal.

And, again this year, the Norwalk Hilton Garden Inn will serve as the official hotel of the CHJA Medal Finals. In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, they will offer our members reduced rates, gift bags and complimentary breakfasts. Click on the Accommodation link to the right to make your reservations!

We are looking forward to an exciting 2008 Medal Finals Weekend with shorter days and happy members!

On behalf of the entire Equitation Committee we wish everyone the best of luck in qualifying!

See you in August!
